Yenolevich, Bollinger Lead KU past Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Evan Yenolevich (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh (Edinboro)) (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and junior Micah Bollinger (Mifflinburg, PA/Mifflinburg Area) (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) both registered wins by fall as Kutztown downed Seton Hill 27-12.

Yenolevich, wrestling at 133, needed just 58 seconds to put Stephen Smith to the mat and gave the Golden Bears a 6-3 lead after the first two bouts. The victory was Yenolevich's third pin of the season.

The Griffins, however, won the next three decisions and led 12-6 heading into the match between Bollinger and Kurt McCamley at 165.  Bollinger scored a key victory for KU by pinning McCamley in 4:34 to tie the match at 12-12.  It was the junior's fourth win by fall of the year.

The Golden Bears then won the final four bouts to put the match away.  Ricky Pena (Reading, PA/Reading) (Reading, Pa./Reading) and Giovanni Ortiz (Reading, PA/Reading) (Reading, Pa./Reading) won by matching 4-3 scores at 174 and 184, respectively, to put Kutztown up 18-12.  After Vinny Campanile (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley) (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley) took a forfeit win at 197, Brandan Clark (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) finished things off with a 5-3 decision in the heavyweight match.

Ortiz's victory came against the No. 2  ranked wrestler at 184 in Super Region One, Zach Benzio, while Clark downed the region's fourth rated grappler at 285, Ron Oswald.

Kutztown improved to 3-1 with the win, which came just hours after nationally ranked Pitt-Johnstown handed the Golden Bears their first loss of the season.  KU will look to stay in the win column against No. 13 West Liberty State, later on January 7.
