Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team nearly overcame a 20-point deficit with a late 14-point run, but fell on the wrong side of a 72-65 decision to Bloomsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field House.

Andrea Sisson (Richmond, VA/Godwin) (Richmond, VA/Godwin) 3-pointer brought the gap to five at 66-61 with 1:19 to go. Unfortunately for the Golden Bears, Bloomsburg would not allow to game to get any closer.
KU had three players score in double figures. Sophomore forward
Avery Hodgson (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) had a game-high 21 points and made 11 of her 12 free throws. She grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Junior guard
Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) dropped ten on the Huskies and helped lead Kutztown's late charge. She tied her career-high with seven rebounds while chipping in four assists.
Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored 12 for the Golden Bears. The freshman forward was 4-of-5 from the field and made all four of her free throws.
After holding a comfortable halftime lead, Bloomsburg (16-4, 10-4) took a significant advantage in the opening minutes of the second half. The Huskies roared to a 14-4 run to take a 20-point, 43-23, lead with 15:59 remaining.
It was the sixth Huskie win over the Golden Bears in the last seven contests. BU was led by junior guard Dana Wieller who was 9-for-10 at the charity stripe on her way to a 21-point outing. Also scoring in double figures for Bloom was junior guard Kayla Oxenrider and (14) and senior guard Kelsey Gallagher (ten).
Bloomsburg played smothering defense throughout and showed why they are one of the top teams in the East. It had a season-high 17 steals and forced 30 KU turnovers, the second-most of the season for the Golden Bears.
Kutztown dominated the battle of the boards. It held an overpowering, 47-28, advantage on the glass, 13 of which coming on the offensive end. KU junior forward
Steph Zewe (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley) (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley) was second on the club with eight rebounds.
Poor shooting in the first half plagued the Golden Bears. They shot 6-for-29 (20.7 percent) in the opening 20 minutes as the Huskies took a double-digit, 29-19, lead into halftime. KU shot 58.3 percent in the second half to end the game at 37.7.
Kutztown is now tied for fifth place in the East with Mansfield. KU will look to get back in the win column and return home on Wednesday, Feb. 1 as it takes on Shippensburg at 6 p.m. at Keystone Arena.
