KU and Gannon will meet in the first round of PSAC playoffs at Bloomsburg

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 19, 2011)—The Kutztown University softball team will play Gannon University Thursday, April 21 in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs at Bloomsburg University.

Admission for the tournament is $7 for adults and $2 for students each day of the tournament. PSAC students will be admitted free with a valid I.D. There is no complimentary pass list. PSAC passes valid.

The last time the Golden Bears (36-11, 10-6) faced Gannon University (20-18, 7-9) was April 10, 2010 where they swept the Golden Knights by scores of 7-2 and 5-0.

KU's destination was determined when Tuesday's doubleheader between Indiana University (27-6, 10-4) and Bloomsburg University (27-5, 10-2) was rained out. Lock Haven won the coin flip and will enter as the No. 2 seed from the Central and IUP is the No. 3 seed.

The top seed in each division will host the three double-elimination tournaments. California (28-10, 12-2) is the No.1 seed in the West Division and Shippensburg (27-11, 13-3) is the top seed in the East Division. Ship will host Mercyhurst and Indiana (Pa.). California (PA) will host Lock Haven and West Chester (28-17, 9-7).

Game times for Thursday are 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Game times for Friday are noon and 2 p.m.

The three sub-tournament winners will then meet at the top remaining seed's home field April 29-30 for another double-elimination tournament to determine the 2011 PSAC champion.
