SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (February 18, 2011) – The Kutztown University wrestling team concluded its 2010-11 regular season with a 27-10 defeat at Shippensburg University Friday night.
The Golden Bears (10-11 overall) battled hard and made the Red Raiders (6-13-1) earn the victory. Kutztown's three-match winning streak ended despite victories from Austin Williams (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) (133 pounds), John Paukovits (Northampton, PA/Northampton) (149) and Seth Csaszar (Northampton, PA/Northampton) (184).
Williams won a 13-2 major decision by defeating Wesley Heavener. Ranked second in his weight class in Super Region I, Williams stretched his winning streak to 13 and earned his 20th victory this season. Meanwhile, Paukovits and Csaszar each won their matches by three points.
Paukovits extended his winning streak to nine matches with a 6-3 victory. Csaszar claimed a 5-2 decision. Elsewhere for the Golden Bears, Desmond Moore (Easton, PA/Easton) dropped a 2-0 decision at 125 pounds and Zach Marlatt (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) lost 5-4 at 165 pounds.
Kutztown will prepare for the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals hosted by Gannon University in Erie, PA on Friday and Saturday, Feb 25 & 26.
