(December 4, 2011) – The Kutztown University men's basketball team closed out its weekend road trip in Western Pennsylvania with an 80-68 setback to Slippery Rock University Sunday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Morrow Field House.

He was 7-for-17 from the field and was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. He was second on the team with five rebounds and made a pair of 3-pointers including one at the end of regulation.
Edwards dropped 21 points on 5-for-17 shooting and scored more than 20 points for the third time this season. He made the most of his trips to the charity stripe, converting on 10-of-11 from the line. He also had two steals and a block.
KU shot 31.7 percent from the field compared to Slippery Rock's 54.8. Kutztown shot extremely well from the free-throw line Sunday. It made 26-of-30 attempts for its best percentage of the season (.867).
Also finishing in double figures for the Golden Bears was senior forward
Eric Brennan (Chester, PA/West Catholic). He finished with 12 points and as many rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He leads KU, averaging 7.7 rebounds per game.
KU led for just 44 seconds in the setback after a Brennan jumper gave KU a 20-19 advantage with 11 minutes remaining in the opening half. SRU took a 42-34 into the break.
SRU (4-2, 2-2) pulled out to a 14-point lead in the opening minutes of the second half. An Edwards 3-pointer brought it to within eight with 13:32 remaining, but the Golden Bears were unable to bring it any closer.
The Rock were led by Devin Taylor who racked up a game-high 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting. He made three of his four 3-pointers and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Tabari Perry finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Aubin Reeves rounded out the three SRU players in double figures with 12 points.
KU has dropped three of its opening four conference games this season, all of which against Western Division opponents. Its 68 points and field goal percentage were the lowest offensive outputs of the season and rightfully so as The Rock entered Sunday's matchup with one of the top defensive units in the PSAC. KU is now 9-6 against SRU, who have won consecutive games in the series.
The Golden Bears have the week off and look to rebound next weekend as it hosts a pair of Western opponents at Keystone Arena. It begins the weekend on Friday, Dec. 9 against California (Pa.) with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. KU beat Cal 72-66 on the road last season.
