ELMWOOD PARK, NJ. (November 6, 2011)— The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished seventh at the FDU Jamboree on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson.
(RESULTS)
The Golden Bears (14-6 overall) competed in three best-of-seven baker games on Sunday. KU went 1-2 on the day with a 4-3 win over Adelphi. Kutztown dropped games to Sacred Heart (4-2) and Stephen F. Austin (4.5-.5).
KU was led by
Kayla Jones (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop ) who finished eighth overall, out of a field of 119 bowlers. Jones had a 209.40 average during the tournament and finished with a pinfall of 1047.
Rebecca Velazquez (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland) finished 32nd with an average 191.
Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) was 37th through five games with a 188.40 average. Bower had a pinfall of 942.
Morgan Reid (Clayton, NC/) followed behind Bower in 38th with a pinfall 940. Reid had an average of 188.
Deanna DiRado (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) finished 49th with an average of 184.80. DiRado had a pinfall of 924 through the tournament.
Jara Cohen (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was 50th with an average of 184.33 through three games. Cohen had a pinfall of 553.
In addition to the FDU Jamboree, The Bowl for the Cure event took place. Players wore pink t-shirts and shoe laces in support of breast cancer awareness.
Kutztown will return to action when it heads to Wallingford, CT for the Northeast Conference (NEC) Meet #1 on Saturday, Nov. 12. The NEC meet will be hosted by Sacred Heart.
