RESULTS
MANSFIELD, Pa. — Jordan Shapiro (Yardville, N.J./Princeton) set a pool record in the 200-yard backstroke at a Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Mansfield University.
Kutztown defeated Mansfield 187-63, but fell to Bloomsburg 179-83 and Edinboro 170.5-90.5.
Shapiro won the 200-yard backstroke finishing with a time of two minutes, 10 seconds.
Lauren Galetto (Vineland, N.J./Sacred Heart) turned in another first place finish for the Golden Bears. Galetto won the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.45). Galetto was also third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.53).
Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) tied second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.46) with Edinboro's Kari Sheahan. Shapiro finished fourth with a time of 25.49.
Lauren Malloy (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) was third in the 500-yard freetyle (5:27.80).
Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:11.70.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jessica Bieiler , Shaprio, Davies, and Malloy were third with a time of 1:44.38.
"We had a few good swims today," Kutztown University head coach
Tim Flannery said. "This was also a good learning experience for the freshman. We have to swim fast even when we're tired because that's what great swimmers do. We'll be better in two weeks at the Golden Bear Invite."
Kutztown returns back to action when it hosts the Golden Bear Invitational on Friday, Nov. 18.
