Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. (November 20, 2011)—Avery Hodgson (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) scored a career-high 24 points off the bench but it wasn't enough as the Kutztown University women's basketball team fell 90-57 to Gannon University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover game, Sunday afternoon at Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (1-3 overall, 1-1 PSAC) used significant efforts from their bench as they scored 39 points.
Junior guard
Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) finished with 16 points, recording her third game of the season with double figures in scoring. She also led with a team-high four assists.
Gannon improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC.
The Golden Knights jumped up to a early 15-0 lead when it used a 7-0 run in the first half with 14:44 remaining.
Steph Zewe (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley) opened the scoring drive for KU when she drove through the lane for a layup with 14:28 left.
KU got within its closet reach of Gannon, after Hodgson used a pair of free throw shots to slice Gannon's lead to 19-12 with 8:15 remaining.
Kutztown struggled from the field and Gannon limited the Golden Bears to just 21 points in the first half. Hodgson scored 11 points in the first half. Despite her work ethic, the Golden Knights took the 43-21 lead at halftime.
GU continued to keep its comfortable lead in the second half in the face of Kutztown's efforts.
Hodgson was Kutztown's frontrunner on both offense and defense. She shot 10-for-12 from the free throw line, and 7-for-17 from the field. She also led KU in rebounds with seven. Wood was 5-for-10 from the field and 3-for-4 from the 3-point range. She was also a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.
Freshman
Aly York (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) saw increased time of the court on Sunday and finished with seven points. York, who seems to show progression each game, is finding her groove with the Golden Bears.
Gannon placed five players in double figures. Caitlyn Lowe led with 14 points with 12 of her points coming from behind the arc. Candice Hendricks followed with 12 points and three steals.
Nettie Black recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards for the Golden Knights. Kelly Sundberg and Jennifer Papich each added 10 points.
Gannon took advantage of Kutztown's turnovers and scored 28 points off turnovers. The Golden Knights also picked up 40 points in the paint and 43 points from its bench.
Kutztown returns back to action when it closes out its three-game home stand on Wednesday, Nov. 23 when it hosts the University of the Sciences for a 1 p.m. game at Keystone Arena.
