Both Kutztown and East Stroudsburg scored 56 points in Week 1. That marked the first time since 1996 that two PSAC teams put up at least 55 points in the first week of the season.

Last season, the Warriors gave the Golden Bears a run for their money but KU slipped away with a 38-31 win. ESU had won nine straight games in the series until Kutztown's victory last season. Saturday's contest will be the 65th meeting between ESU and KU. East Stroudsburg leads the series 43-15-1.

Both teams suffered setbacks last week and are in need of a victory. Kutztown lost to Shippensburg University 49-7, while East Stroudsburg dropped a halftime lead to fall to then No.5 Bloomsburg 32-20.

KU's offense was hushed last week and only scored one touchdown. The last time Kutztown scored one TD in a game was in 2009 in a 31-12 loss to Bloomsburg. Despite its game against the Red Raiders, KU is still first in the PSAC in total offense (481.0/game), and scoring offense (39.2/game). KU is second in rush offense (213.0/game).

Nationally, the Golden Bears are third in kickoff returns (28.43), 11th in total offense, 15th in passing efficiency (153.66), and 16th in scoring offense. Kutztown is one of only three teams in Division II that is yet to attempt a field goal on the season. However, the Golden Bears are a perfect 28-for-28 on points after touchdowns (PATs). Of the other two teams in D-II that haven't attempted a FG, Lincoln (Mo.) is also perfect on PATs (6-for-6) while New Mexico Highlands is 16-of-19.

Senior Robbie Frey (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) continues to be a force for the Golden Bears. Frey is sixth in the nation in kickoff returns (33.43/return). Frey has 528 rushing yards and leads KU in rushing TDs with six.

Junior quarterback Kevin Morton (Abington, PA/Abington) is 98-for-161 in passing, racking up over 1300 yards in five games.Morton's main targets, receivers Erik Frazier (Philadelphia, PA/Germantown) and Josh Smith (West Lawn, PA/Wilson) are each averaging over 50 yards/game. Smith has five TDs on 262 yards and Frazier has two TDs.

Josh Mastromatto (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) has stacked up 438 all-purpose yards. He is averaging 7.1 yards on the ground and 10.8 yards in the air.

The Golden Bears will have the opportunity to put up some yards against the Warriors, considering the fact that the ESU defense has given up 400 total total yards in four of its five games.

Against Shippensburg, Alex DiNolfi (Norristown, PA/Norristown) and Andrew Hodges (Ridley, PA/Ridley) each had a career-high 13 tackles.  English Peay (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) and Jason Ulmer (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) each contributed nine tackles. Hodges leads KU in tackles (41). DiNolfi has four interceptions, five pass deflections, and one breakup on the season. Peay and Ulmer each have two interceptions.

Redshirt senior quarterback Ray Wagner threw for a career-high 397 yards and two touchdowns for ESU last week.  Wagner is fourth nationally in total offense (345.20/game). The Warriors are first in the PSAC in pass offense (344.6/game).

Receivers Jordan Hallman and freshman Ray Dominquez each had 100-yard games last week. Hallman had four catches on 128 yards, and a TD. Dominquez had seven catches on 110 yards. Sophomore Dusty Reed, who is 10th in Division II with 105.80 yards per game, had eight catches for 96 yards and a score.

Anthony Singlar and Curtis Culbreath each recorded 12 tackles against the Huskies. Mike Bergey and Taylor Cave both added 11 tackles.

Kutztown's next matchup will be against Millersville University on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
