Kutztown captures impressive road win over Mansfield

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (October 17, 2011) – The Kutztown University field hockey team had four different goal-scorers Monday to guide it to a 4-1 victory over Mansfield University in a non-conference match from Lock Haven University.  (BOXSCORE)
 
The match was played at Lock Haven's campus due to unplayable fields at Mansfield.
 
The Golden Bears (10-6, 4-4 PSAC East) have now won double-digit games eight consecutive years under head field hockey coach Betty Wesner.  KU also secured a winning record for the fifth straight season.
 
Junior Emily Labowitz (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Lower Merion) scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season Monday.  She scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first half from four yards out off an assist from Erin Reynolds (York, PA/Central York).
 
Reynolds also scored in KU's second straight victory.  She scored just under five minutes into the game for her fourth goal of the season.  Reynolds also had a pair of assists.
 
Senior Kim Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) scored her first goal of the season.  She found the back of the net off a penalty corner late in the first half.
 
Jenna Gregory (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) opened the second half with a breakaway goal just over five minutes into the half.  The junior has nine goals this season and leads the team with 24 points.
 
Senior goalkeeper Emily Falko (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) earned her seventh win of the season Monday.  After shutting out the Mounties in the first half, Falko ended the game allowing just one goal to go along with nine saves. 
 
Defensive back Amy Dando (Marysville, PA/Susquenita) has been strong on the backline all year for KU.  She made her team-leading third defensive save in the win.
 
Kutztown will play three matches in the final week of the regular season.  KU currently sits in third place in the Eastern Division and will host top-ranked Bloomsburg on Wednesday, Oct. 19 for Senior Day at University Field beginning at 7 p.m.
