EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (September 29, 2010) – The Kutztown University field hockey team battled hard during a 5-2 defeat to undefeated East Stroudsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game Wednesday afternoon at Whitenight Field. (BOXSCORE)

East Stroudsburg is ranked third in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFCHA) top 10 poll. Kutztown entered the game ranked fifth.

Kutztown (4-2 overall, 1-1 PSAC East) had its three-game winning streak snapped despite goals from Abbey Sheeler and Erin Reynolds. This was the third straight game in which Reynolds scored a goal for the Golden Bears. Kelly McCartin recorded the assist on Reynolds' goal late in the contest.

Kutztown keeper Emily Falko made seven saves including a spectacular one during a breakaway. With ESU's Jessica Frantz charging at her, Falko came out of the cage and made a great save on the Division II leader in scoring and goals. Falko's efforts led to a KU 4-on-1 breakaway opportunity.

East Stroudsburg (8-0, 2-0) got goals from five different players including Frantz, who was held without a goal until the 66th minute.

Kutztown finishes its four-game road trip Saturday afternoon when it travels to C.W. Post in another PSAC East contest beginning at 1 p.m.
