Wrestling releases 2010-11 schedule

KUTZTOWN, PA (August 23, 2010) – A trip to Phoenix and eight home matches highlight the 2010-11 Kutztown University wrestling schedule released Thursday afternoon. (CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE SCHEDULE)

 

The Golden Bears will start 2011 by participating in the Grand Canyon Duals in the Valley of the Sun on Saturday, January 1. Overall, Kutztown will rack up plenty of frequent flier miles as it will compete in tournaments in Springfield (Ma.), Pembroke (N.C.) and Erie. In the month of January alone, Kutztown will travel roughly 3,463 miles. 

 

Kutztown is coming off of its best season in program history, posting a school record 17 victories in 2009.

 

Kutztown will begin the season by competing in the East Stroudsburg University Open on Saturday, November 20. The Golden Bears make their home debut a few days later when they battle Delaware Valley College and Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, November 24. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships will be held on Saturday, December 4 at Bloomsburg University.

 

The Golden Bears will begin February with three straight home matches against Millersville (Tuesday, February 1), York College (Friday, February 11) and East Stroudsburg (Tuesday, February 15). The NCAA Regionals will be contested at Gannon University on the weekend of Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26.

 

Among some of the key wrestlers returning this season for the Golden Bears are junior Tim Darling (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth), who finished fourth at the NCAA Championships and earned All-American honors, senior Kevin Bolinsky (Ashland, PA/North Schuylkill), who competed at the NCAA Championships last year, senior Chris Sheetz (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen), who holds the school record for fastest fall, sophomore Austin Williams (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) and senior John Paukovits (Northampton, PA/Northampton).
