KUTZTOWN, PA (June 21, 2010) -- Two Kutztown University football players were named to the 2010 Consensus Draft Services Division II Preseason All-America teams.
Senior kicker Matt Dineen and senior punt returner Kendell Coleman were both named as honorable mention to the Division II All-America teams. Both make their first appearances on the preseason charts by CDS.
Dineen was selected to the all-PSAC East Division first team following a strong season in which he made 17 of 20 field goals to lead the conference. Dineen established the KU single-season record for field goals made in a season with 17. He shattered the school career-record with 35 field goals over the past three seasons. Dineen also set a school record by kicking five field goals in a victory over Cheyney. Dineen was fourth in the PSAC in punting average (38.7) and fourth in scoring (6.5 points per game).
Coleman is one of the most electrifying punt returners in the PSAC. He was third in punt return average (10.3) and eighth in kick return average (24.2). Coleman led the Golden Bears in all-purpose yards, averaging 87.5 yards per contest. He totaled 906 yards during the season and caught a touchdown pass against West Chester University.
Kutztown starts the season with a pair of home games against Saint Anselm College on Saturday, September 4 and Mercyhurst College on Saturday, September 11. This will be the third straight season that the Golden Bears and Hawks have opened the season against each other. Kutztown is 2-0 all time against Saint Anselm, claiming a 35-0 victory in 2008 and 17-13 decision in 2009. The Golden Bears begin PSAC East play on Saturday, September 25, on the road against Cheyney University.
Family Day/Paint The Town Gold Day will be against Shippensburg on Saturday, October 2. The Golden Bears will host Millersville University on Saturday, October 16. Both games begin at 1:05 p.m. Overall, the Golden Bears will play three of their six home games at night. The complete schedule will be released later this week.
