Golden Bear lacrosse falls to Bloomsburg

KUTZTOWN, PA (April 3, 2010) - The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team dropped a 23-7 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division contest to Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Field. (Boxscore)

Janice Kinney and Kierstyn Mock each scored two goals in the first half. Kinney got the Golden Bears on the board early with a goal at the 27:27 mark of the first half. The Golden Bears went on a scoring spurt midway through the first to close the gap to 7-4.

Kinney tallied her second goal at 15:58 and Mock followed with her two scores in the next 90 seconds. Mock got creative with her second goal, flicking a loose ball past the keeper.

The Huskies were powered by Allie Kakareka's four goals and three assists. Samantha King and Samantha Mazzie each record four goals as well.

In the second half, Rachel Mehaffey had her hand in all of the Golden Bear scores. Starting with an assist on a Megan Schwar goal and Mehaffey finished off the scoring with back-to-back goals in the waning minutes.

In between the pipes, Karly Waltman finished with 10 saves, including eight in the first half.

The Golden Bears will start the second half of the conference schedule on Tuesday, hosting West Chester at 4 p.m. on Keystone Field.
