BETHLEHEM, PA (March 6, 2010) – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team will have to wait until next weekend to try and earn their first win of the season, after posting a 20-4 loss to Mercyhurst.
Due to adverse field conditions at Keystone Field, both teams played on neutral grounds at Lehigh University's Ulrich Sports Complex on Goodman Campus.
Kutztown (0-2) came alive in the second half by scoring two of its three goals in a three minute span. Samantha Crist set up Jen Dunne's goal by passing across the goal cage at 21:34. Kierstyn Mock added in the second goal of the half by shooting the ball into the back corner of the goal cage at 18:07. With one second left on the clock, Katie Feairheller drove the ball into the back of the goal cage for the final goal of the game, on a pass from Rachel Mehaffey.
The Golden Bears' first goal of the game came from Jen Dunne on an unassist at 25:39 on the clock.
Mercyhursts' Ally Keirn lead the team with four goals and four assists. Kelly Palmer and Kristie Jennings both followed with three goals each. Celeste Shefferly and Melissa Leonhard each had two goals. Alisha Catalino, Laura Trenti, Jackie McCarthy, Jessica Lincoln, Kimberly Masterton, and Ashley Dulaney each scored one goal for Mercyhurst.
Kutztown returns to action over spring break, when they travel to North Carolina to take on Belmont Abbey on March 13. The game begins at 11 a.m.
