LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 2, 2010) – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team began its 2010 season by dropping a 19-9 decision to Georgian Court at the Veteran Memorial Sports Complex Tuesday afternoon. (BOXSCORE WILL BE POSTED TUESDAY MORNING)
Rachel Mehaffey (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford), Jen Dunne (Chalfront, PA/Central Bucks South) and Lindsay Crits all had two goals each for the Golden Bears (0-1). Mehaffey also contributed two assists. Kutztown (0-1) tied the game, 2-2, on Dunne's first goal of the season off of an assist from Mehaffey with 19 minutes, 32 seconds remaining in the first half.
Kierstyn Mock (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) scored the Golden Bears' first goal of 2010. It was an unassisted tally with 24:32 remaining in the opening half. Also scoring for the Golden Bears was Kelsey Hogan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Emily Solt (Bowmanstown, PA/Concord). Hogan led Kutztown with six shots. With 10 minutes remaining, Kutztown trailed 12-9 following Crits' second goal.
Lauren Conaty led Georgian Court (1-0) with five goals.
Kutztown returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Mercyhurst College at noon.
