Golden Bears take advantage of Charleston miscue in victory

SALEM, VA. (March 21, 2010) – The Kutztown University softball team took advantage of a Charleston error to record a 1-0 victory in the Salem Invitational Sunday morning.

For the Golden Bears (20-8 overall), it was their fourth consecutive one-run victory on this trip. Winning pitcher Katlin Arbogast tossed a complete game gem with five strikeouts. She allowed one hit and walked two batters.

Nicole Colineri had half of the Golden Bears' hits. Also getting hits for Kutztown were Maria Isgro and Nicole Henninger.

Kutztown scored its run in the fourth inning. Jennifer Stow led off the inning with a walk. Maria Schiavo sacrificed her to second base. Colineri singled, which moved Stowe to third base. Kutztown then unleashed its aggressive base running. It paid off as Charleston made a mistake.

With Colineri dashing to second base, Charleston tried to execute a pick-off play and catch Stowe napping at third base. It didn't work as Charleston botched the play, which allowed Stowe to scamper home with the decisive run.

Kutztown finishes its Virginia trip against Wheeling-Jesuit beginning at 1 p.m.
