Couch comes through in the pinch to lift Kutztown to victory

SALEM, VA (March 20, 2010) – The Kutztown University softball team extended its winning streak to three games by edging Seton Hill University, 2-1, in the Salem Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bears (19-8) overall scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Sarah Couch delivered a pinch hit two-out double that scored Michelle McGinty with the tying run. Kristen Cornelis crossed the plate with the eventual game-winning run following an errant throw.

Kutztown also won its third straight one-run decision to raise its overall mark in such contests to 8-4. Krista Tedjeske was 2-for-2 with a walk to lead the Kutztown offense. Her one-out single in the fourth inning helped the Golden Bears' rally.

Monica Glomb struck out six batters in six innings to pick up the victory. It was Glomb's third win of this road trip.

Kutztown concludes its weekend getaway in Virginia by playing Charleston (9 a.m.) and Wheeling-Jesuit (1 p.m.) Sunday afternoon.
