KU wrestling falls to ESU; eight game win streak snapped

EAST STROUDSBURG (February 16, 2010) - After an 11-day layoff, the Kutztown University wrestling team dropped a 29-11 decision to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse. It was the first time that the two teams met since the 2002-03 season.

The loss snapped an eight match winning streak, dropping the Golden Bears to 16-4 overall this season.

Kevin Bolinsky evened the scoring at three apiece with a 5-2 decision at 285 pounds. The junior has improved his record to 12-1 on the season.

Junior Chris Sheetz followed suit with a fall in five minutes and 37 seconds to give Kutztown a 9-3 advantage. Sheetz has now won each of his last eight bouts by pin.

The Warriors stormed back with five straight wins at the middle weights to pull away from the Golden Bears. Alex Depew won a 6-1 decision at 174 pounds to stop the bleeding.

The Golden Bears will finish out the regular season against Shippensburg on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Keystone Arena. Prior to the match, the Golden Bears will honor seniors Brett Martinez, Scott Snyder and David Zeek.
