KU gets two victories in day two of FDU Jamboree

HOWELL, NJ (November 6, 2010) —The Kutztown University women's bowling team picked up two wins in day two of the of the Farleigh-Dickinson University Jamboree Saturday afternoon at Howell Lanes.
 
Kutztown (14-6 overall), ranked ninth in the National Tenpins Coaches' Association top 20 poll, defeated Sam Houston State, 1014-941 and Bethune-Cookman, 861-766. The Golden Bears lost to Sacred Heart, 923-888, Maryland-Easton Shore, 1083-939, and Florida A&M 921-888.
 
Freshman Brooke Bower led the Golden Bears finishing with the highest individual average of 210.4 in five games. Junior Samantha Santoro finished with a 202.4 average after five games. After three games, junior Chelsea Adam (Reading, PA/Exeter Senior High) finished with a 186.3 average.
 
“This is our first big test of the season and we are still figuring things out and each match seems to be a new adventure,” head women's bowling Coach Joe Ambrose said. “We know what we are capable of as a collective unit and we will continue to work towards that tomorrow.”
 
Kutztown will wrap up the FDU Jamboree Sunday morning.
 
“We are looking to win all 3 of our matches and finish as high as 3rd place,” said Ambrose. “Bottom line is winning matches, which in reality is all that counts to the NCAA.”
