KU places two wrestlers at ESU Open

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (November 20, 2010) – The Kutztown University wrestling team saw its first action of the 2010-11 season Saturday as it competed at the East Stroudsburg Open.
 
The Golden Bears placed two wrestlers at the ESU Open. Ricardo Pena placed third in the 165 pound class, and Justin Grant (Easton, PA/Easton) placed fourth in the 285 pound class.
 
Senior John Paukovits (Northampton, PA/Northampton) had three wins Saturday. Paukovits was one of KU's top wrestlers last year and will need to keep up his top performances this year for Kutztown at the 149 pound class.
 
Desmond Moore (Easton, PA/Easton) competed at 125 pounds and had two wins including one pinfall.
 
Kyle Johnson (Stewartsville, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Nick Lamoreaux (Bethesda, MD/Milton Hershey) made a great start to their collegiate career on Saturday. Johnson and Lamoreaux each secured a win. Fellow freshman Jonathan Germany (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin) also wrestled Saturday and earned two wins.
 
Sophomore's Mitch Voelker (Shoemakersville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and Frank Genther (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) also earned a win.
 
Kutztown returns to action on Wednesday November 24 as it hosts Elizabethtown College and Delaware Valley College beginning at 11:00 a.m.
