Fisher reaches milestone, KU downs Belmont Abbey

NEWBERRY, S.C. (January 23, 2010) - The Kutztown University wrestling team got back on the winning track with a 25-15 win over Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon at the Super Regional Duals.

The win marked head coach Rob Fisher's 100th career dual win at Kutztown, who is in his ninth season.

"When I started here, this wasn't something that crossed my mind," said Fisher. "It's a really cool feeling."

Overall the Golden Bears have a 7-3 record and have won six of their last seven matches.

Chris Sheetz just edged out John Paukovits for the fastest fall of the match. It took Sheetz only 21 seconds to earn his pin at 125 pounds and give KU a 6-0 lead.

At 141 pounds, Paukovits ended his match in 26 seconds with a pin. Paukovits has been victorious in six straight matches, with three pins and one major decision.

Tyler Stambaugh won his match at 197 pounds with a 10-0 major decision. Anthony Frost also did not allow a point against him, with a 5-0 decision at 149 pounds.

The No. 15 ranked Golden Bears as a program have collected 395 dual wins. Fisher's assistant coach Dan Hinkel holds the school record with 124 dual wins as head coach from 1966-72 and 1989-96.
