NEWBERRY, S.C. (January 22, 2010) - The Kutztown University wrestling kept its torrid pace with a dominant 36-6 win over Anderson University on Friday evening at the Super Regional Duals.

After dismantling St. Andrews 39-6 in the first match, the No. 15 Golden Bears (8-2) used four pins to give head coach Rob Fisher his 99th career dual win at Kutztown.

After four bouts, the Golden Bears held an 18-0 advantage. John Paukovits and Brett Martinez had back-to back pins at 141- and 149-pounds, respectively. Paukovits pinned Christopher Francis at four minutes and 58 seconds, while Martinez's fall came at three minutes, 49 seconds.

Ricardo Pena and Tim Darling had the quickest falls of the match for KU. Pena disposed of his opponent a mere :48 seconds into his bout, the fastest for KU this season. Darling continued his impressive start as a Golden Bear with a pin in one minute, 52 seconds.

Chris Sheetz, Clayton Youtz, Kevin Bolinsky and Scott Snyder edged out decisions in their favor. Sheetz took down Dequan Warner by a score of 12-9, while Youtz won 6-4 and Bolinksy 4-2. Snyder won 3-2, scoring all three of his points in the second period off of an escape and a take down.


The Golden Bears combined for seven pins and three major decisions on the day, with Paukovits nabbing two of the pins.

The second day will start off at 9 a.m. with the No. 2 Newberry College taking on the Golden Bears. KU will square off with Belmont Abbey at 11 a.m. and wrap-up the dual at 3:30 p.m. against Limestone.
