MILLERSVILLE, PA (January 16, 2010) – The Kutztown University women's basketball team dropped a 61-42 decision to host Millersville University at Pucillo Gym in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game Saturday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)

The Golden Bears (10-5 overall, 1-1 PSAC East) were led in scoring by senior guard Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area), who scored nine points. Junior Kristen Murray (Harrisburg, PA/Trinity) added seven points for the Golden Bears. Senior center Chauntelle Schroeder (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA/Mother Teresa) had eight rebounds and five steals.

Millersville (12-3, 2-0) placed three players in double figures highlighted by 17 points from Marshira Newman. Jenna Craig and Emily Balogh scored 10 points each for the Marauders.

Kutztown held an early 4-2 advantage following a pair of Schroeder foul shots four minutes into the game. Millersville took the lead for good on a Newman 3-pointer, 5-4. That basket began a 14-2 MU run. The closest the Golden Bears would get in the opening half was 30-24 after a pair of Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) foul shots with 2:29 remaining in the first half.

The Golden Bears were 11-for-11 from the foul line and they held Millersville two points below its season scoring average.

Millersville will visit Keystone Arena on Saturday, February 13.

Kutztown returns to action Wednesday night when it visits Mansfield University in a PSAC East contest beginning at 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live over the Golden Bear Network.
