Kutztown comes up short in road setback at Edinboro

EDINBORO, PA. (January 9, 2010) – Kutztown held Edinboro 21 points below its scoring average but it wasn't enough as the Golden Bears dropped a 66-52 decision in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest at McComb Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) (Hazleton/Hazleton) led the Golden Bears (8-4) with a team-high 14 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

Junior forward Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) (Pittsburgh/ Shaler) reached double digits for the 16th straight game with 13 points and a team-high nine boards. Senior forward Vivian Melvin (Chichester, PA/Chichester) (Chichester/ Chichester) also added double digit points, contributing 12 points and five rebounds.

Despite holding the Fighting Scots (8-4) offense to a season-low 66 points, the defensive pressure was too much for the Golden Bears to overcome.

Edinboro's Samantha Blazetic was a force in the paint all day, with five blocks. When she wasn't swatting shots she was pulling down boards, finishing with a total of nine.

Kutztown will look to bounce back in a PSAC crossover contest against Lock Haven on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. Listen live to the game on the Golden Bear network starting at 12:50 p.m.
