KUTZTOWN, PA. (December 9, 2009) – The Kutztown University women's soccer team had three players named to the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America all-Atlantic region team. Junior defender Chelsea Deeter (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) (Langhorne/Neshaminy) was named to the first team while sophomore forward Chelsea Bressler (Cleona, PA/Annville-Cleona) (Annville/Annville-Cleona) and sophomore midfielder Shannon Pennock (Mansfield, N.J./Northern Burlington) (North Burlington, NJ/Mansfield) were named to the second team.
They helped Kutztown enjoyable a memorable year. The Golden Bears set a school record for wins (15) and shutouts in a season (13), finished second in the PSAC East regular season and was PSAC tournament runner-up. The Golden Bears also hosted an NCAA Division II Atlantic Region postseason contest. During the season, Kutztown was nationally ranked in nine of the 11 NSCAA polls during the season.
Deeter had a sterling season in helping the Golden Bears set a school record for wins in a season (15). Deeter anchored a defense that posted a school record 13 shutouts. In addition, Deeter helped Kutztown earn a bid to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region tournament. The Golden Bears finished second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division and as PSAC tournament runner-up. Deeter also had two assists during a 4-1 victory over East Stroudsburg in a PSAC quarterfinal contest.
Bressler, who was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year last season, leads Kutztown in goals (10), points (24) and game-winning goals (five). Bressler has scored 20 goals during her two-year career. This is the second consecutive year Bressler was named to the PSAC East first team. Bressler scored the only goal during Kutztown's 1-0 victory over California (Pa.) in the PSAC quarterfinals.
Pennock has scored six goals, which is third on the team. She started the season with a bang by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to help Kutztown defeat then eighth-ranked Mercyhurst, 2-1. Pennock scored two goals each against Mansfield and Charleston.

Since its founding in 1941, it has grown to include more than 28,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year. It fulfills its mission of coaching education through a nationwide program of clinics and week-long courses, teaching more than 4,000 soccer.
