KUTZTOWN, PA (October 10, 2009) – The Kutztown women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival Clarion University Saturday afternoon at Keystone Arena. (BOXSCORE).
Kutztown (8-9 overall, 1-8 PSAC) lost the first two games 16-25 and 14-25 before bouncing back and claiming the third game win 27-25. The Golden Eagles won the fourth game, 25-12.
In game three, the Golden Bears had 37 total attacks and 12 kills. Cali Snell (York, PA/York Suburban) (York/York Suburban) led the team with four kills while teammate Lindsay Confer (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) (Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) added three.
Leading Kutztown on the front line, Katie Miller (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) had 41 total attacks in the four games, nine of which were for kills. Confer tallied 36 attacks, seven of which were kills. Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) (Warminster/Saint Basil Academy) provided 21 assists.
Protecting the court, Lindsey Smith (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) (Hanover/Delone Catholic) contributed 27 digs to the Golden Bears total of 84. Jamie Celia (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) tallied 19 digs.
The Golden Bears meet PSAC East opponents Millersville on Oct. 16 and Shippensburg on Oct. 17 at home.
