SALEM, W.Va. — Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) had a two-RBI hit and Kim Morrison (sr. Newmarket, ONTARIO /Sir William Mulock) hit a home run as the Kutztown University softball team defeated Shepherd University 5-2 Sunday in the final game of the Salem Invitational.
Denlinger knocked in two runs during a three-run sixth inning, pushing the Golden Bears' lead to 5-0. KU (24-6) opened the game with two runs in the first.
Morrison finished 2-for-3 with a single, a walk and a homer.
Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon) led KU on the mound, pitching six innings to collect her 12th win of the season. Mary Hoch (so. Somerton/St. Hubert) recorded the save pitching in the top of the seventh.
KU will return home with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East doubleheader with Millersville at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
