SALEM, Va. — The Kutztown University softball team used tied and took the lead with two-run home runs in their 9-6 win over Alderson-Broaddus in the first game of the Salem Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Krista Cameron (sr. Formosa, ONT/Sacred Heart) tied the game 6-6 with a two-run home run, her second of the game.
Ashley Fitzgerald (sr. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection) gave the Golden Bears (21-5) an 8-6 lead with a home run, scoring Steph Denlinger (sr. Harleysville/Souderton).
Kim Morrison (sr. Newmartket, ONT/Sir William Mulock) went 3-for-3 at the plate, with a home run and two doubles, while Krista Tedjeske (so. Summerhill/Forest Hills) was 3-for-4 with a double.
Mary Hoch (so. Somerton/St. Hubert) got the win, pitching 1 1/3 innings of shut out relief for starter Katlin Arbogast (jr. Ambler/Wissahickon). Monica Glomb (so. Mars/Mars) pitched a shut out seventh inning for the save.
The win marked the 11th straight for the Golden Bears, who will take on West Virginia State on Friday night at 7 p.m.
