WISEMILLER SCORES CAREER-BEST 27, KU WINS 77-72

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) (jr. Hazelton/Hazelton) netted a career-high 27 points as the Kutztown University women's basketball team won 77-72 over Lock Haven in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover Sunday at Keystone Hall.

Lock Haven (3-10) led 32-27 at halftime, the KU (10-3) scored 50 second-half points to solidify its 10th win of the season.

Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler) recorded her second straight double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down 18 rebounds — a career high — 14 on the defensive end. She also had three assists, a block and a steal.

Lara Dellegrotti (sr. Berwick/Berwick) hit three 3-pointers and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line to score 16 points, and Chauntelle Schroeder (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA/Mother Teresa) (jr. Toronto, Ont./Mother Theresa) had 10.

Wisemiller also had seven assists, two blocks and a steal.

KU used an 11-4 run midway through the second half to take a 59-51 lead, but Lock Haven went on an 8-0 run to cut it to one with 5:28 left.

They exchanged runs again as KU went on a 9-0 spurt to make it 68-59, only to have Lock Haven cut it to 70-68 with 51 seconds left.

The Golden Bears, however, hit 7-of-9 free throws in the final 30 seconds to secure the win.

KU was 24-of-30 from the line with Wisemiller going 8-for-8 and McQuade going 4-for-5.

The Golden Bears will travel to East Stroudsburg to open up the PSAC East schedule with a 6 p.m. tipoff Wednesday.
