KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The Kutztown University women's basketball team dropped an 88-84 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover with Edinboro on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Arena.

Chauntelle Schroeder (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA/Mother Teresa) (jr. Toronto, Ont./Mother Theresa) had a career-high in both points and rebounds with 21 and 13, respectively, to lead the Golden Bears (9-3).

Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler) finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. McQuade was 10-of-11 from the free throw line and KU shot 27-of-32 as a team. Also with a double-double was Katie Dovey (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal) scoring 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Lara Dellegrotti (sr. Berwick/Berwick) was 3-for-5 from 3 and finished with 15 points. Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) (jr. Hazelton/Hazelton) scored 14 points and had two blocks.

The Golden Bears used a 10-0 run in the first half to go to the break with a 35-30 lead. In the beginning of the second half, the Fighting Scots (8-4) battled back for their first lead of the game at 38-37 before KU had a 16-2 run and regaining the lead.

Edinboro (8-4) claimed the lead for good when the ejection of head coach Stan Swank, with 13:39 remaining, led to a 20-4 run.

The Golden Bears fell into a deficit as high as eight points, but erased it to one in the final minute of play.

Edinboro missed four foul shots in the final minute to keep KU within striking distance; however, the Edinboro defense, which forced 33 turnovers, remained strong with a steal then blocked shot on possessions that could have tied the game.

The Golden Bears forced 22 turnovers, while collecting four steals and four blocks.

The two teams combined to attempt 66 free throws and commit 49 personal fouls. KU shot 43.1 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent on 3s. Edinboro was 42.9 from the floor and 36.4 percent from behind the arc.

The Golden Bears will look to get back on track Sunday against Lock Haven at 1 p.m. at Keystone Arena.
