KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton) and Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler) scored 15 points apiece to lead the Kutztown University's women's basketball team to a 76-30 non-conference win against Columbia Union Wednesday at Keystone Arena.
McQuade and Katie Dovey (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal) led the team with seven rebounds each, and Wisemiller tied her career-high dishing out seven assists.
KU, at 7-0, is off to its best start in school history.
Lara Dellegrotti (sr. Berwick/Berwick) scored 11 points in her return to the Golden Bears' lineup after recovering from a hand injury. She was 4-of-5 from the floor, including a 3-for-4 clip from 3-point range.
Wisemiller also hit three 3s for KU and McQuade had two.
Meredith Starr (Richmond, VA/Monacan) (so. Richmond, Va./Monacan) had eight assists and six points.
The Golden Bears shot 52.9 percent in the first half en route to a 44-17 lead. KU continued to apply the pressure on defense, holding Columbia Union to 13 second-half points. The Golden Bears forced 27 turnovers and recorded 16 steals.
KU returns to Keystone Arena for a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday against Philadelphia University.
