TAKOMA PARK, Md. – Rachel Wisemiller (Hazleton, PA/Hazleton Area) (jr. Hazleton/Hazleton) and Melissa McQuade (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) (so. Pittsburgh/Shaler) scored 17 points apiece to lead Kutztown University's women's basketball team to a 72-37 non-conference win at Columbia Union.
McQuade also pulled down 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Katie Dovey (Willow Hill, PA/Fannett-Metal) (jr. Willow Hill/Fannett-Metal) had 11 points and Brittany LeVan (Centre Hall, PA/Penns Valley) (fr. Centre Hall/Penns Valley) scored 10 for the Golden Bears, who improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2001-02.
Aida Gueye scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Pioneers (0-9).
KU never trailed in the game and held the Pioneers to just 23 percent shooting. CUC scored just 14 points in the first half, as KU built a 22-point lead at the midway point. The Golden Bears outscored the Pioneers 22-3 over the first 10 minutes of the second half.
KU returns to the court at 1 p.m. Saturday at Penn State-Berks.
