SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (October 11, 2009) — The Kutztown University field hockey team continued its solid play on Sunday with a 2-1 win at Slippery Rock.
Anne Waapu (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND/) (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND) provided all the offense necessary to get the win for the Golden Bears (9-6, 2-3 PSAC East). She had an unassisted goal in the first half.
Waapu added the difference maker early in the second half off of a penalty corner from Abbey Sheeler (Fleetwood, PA/Brandywine Heights) (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights).
The Golden Bears held a 19-5 advantage in penalty corners, a stat they have dominated all season. They also held an 8-5 advantage for shots on goal.
Emily Falko (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) was solid in the cage for KU, making four saves.
The Golden Bears will return home to host No. 3 East Stroudsburg under the lights on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on University Field
