MERCYHURST, Pa. (October 10, 2009) — The Kutztown University field hockey team received two goals from Julie Rosenkaimer (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) (Lansdale/North Penn) and goalkeeper Emily Falko (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) made three saves to secure a win over Mercyhurst. 

Abbey Sheeler (Fleetwood, PA/Brandywine Heights) (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) got the scoring started at the 5:13 mark with Lauren Solley (Oley, PA/Olley Valley) (Oley/Oley Valley) providing the assist.

Rosenkaimer followed the goal by Sheeler with back-to-back unassisted goals to give the Golden Bears (8-6, 3-2 PSAC East) a 3-0 advantage.

Courtney Zook (Oley, PA/Olley Valley) (Oley/Oley Valley) and Brooke Mathews (Reedsville, PA/Indian Valley) (Reedsville/Indian Valley) capped off the scoring for KU in the second half. Anne Waapu (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND/) (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND) got the assist on Mathews goal.

The Golden Bears dominated on both ends of the field all game. The offense rattled off 21 shots on goal and forced 26 penalty corners. On defense, the Golden Bears held the Lakers to only six shots on goal.

Sophomore Abby Rhone (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) (Chambersburg/Chambersburg) relieved Falko midway through the second half and finished with two saves.

The Golden Bears will finish off their weekend road trip on Sunday at Slippery Rock at 1 p.m .
