C.J. Hemerly is in his eighth year as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Kutztown for the 2024-25 academic year.
Hemerly helps coordinate all aspects of the university's sports information office and the promotion of its 22 NCAA varsity programs.
For the last six years, Hemerly has been a statistician at the PSAC championships for softball, hosted at Veterans Park in Quakertown.
He was the media liason for the 2022 PSAC Field Hockey Final Four, hosted by Kutztown, and promoted KU Field Hockey, which was ranked No. 1 in DII for the first time in program history during the fall.
Hemerly was the primary contact for the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Softball Atlantic Regional tournaments, hosted on North Campus. He also worked with the director in running and promoting the 2021 PSAC Cross Country Championships, the first two rounds of the women's soccer NCAA Tournament and the PSAC Championship game and two NCAA football games, all during the fall of 2021.
Hemerly was the main contact for the 2019 PSAC runner-up KU field hockey team that won its first PSAC Tournament game since 1988 and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in 31 years. Hemerly traveled with the team to the PSAC Championship game and Final Four. He was also the secondary contact for the nationally-ranked football team that reached the NCAA Second Round.
During his time at KU, Hemerly has been a member of the Athletic Award Banquet committee and also sat on the search committee for the sports information director vacancy during the fall of 2018 and the head coach of the inaugural acrobatics & tumbling team.
In 2018-19, he promoted 12 All-Americans across seven sports, including heavyweight wrestling national champion Andrew Dunn Jr., and KU softball's all-time hits leader Sara Keeny. Hemerly worked with the PSAC champion wrestling team and the women's indoor track & field team. He was also the main point of contact for Kutztown football's all-time career rushing TD leader, Craig Reynolds, and men's basketball's second-leading scorer of all-time, Anthony Lee.
While in the Fall semester of 18-19, he spent four months overseeing all communications efforts for the Golden Bears 21 varsity sports while the department searched for a sports information director. During this time he was the host SID for an NCAA Tournament football game, the PSAC wrestling championships, the PSAC women's basketball final four and the ECAC women's bowling championship tournament.
During the 2017-18 season, Hemerly was the primary contact for the nationally-ranked women's soccer team, which reached new program heights, earning the No. 1 ranking in Divison II. He was also charged with men's basketball, softball, cross country, tennis, golf and track & field.
Hemerly is also a writer for the Lehigh Valley Press newspaper in Allentown, Pa., covering local high school sports. He is in his 12th season working with Lehigh Valley high school athletic teams.
He served as a graduate assistant at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member East Stroudsburg University during the 2012-13 school year. There he assisted in the promotion of the Warriors’ 20 varsity programs, including inputting stats and taking photos at home contests, while receiving his Master’s degree in Sports Management.
Before arriving at ESU, Hemerly completed an internship in the athletic communications office at Lehigh University. While there, he wrote press releases and uploaded content onto the website www.lehighsports.com.
Hemerly is a 2011 graduate of DeSales University, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.
He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA).
Hemerly resides in Allentown, Pa, with his wife Brandy, son Carson and their three cats Piper, Roux and Zorra.
