Tamara Jennings joins Judy Lawes' staff as a student assistant coach in 2020 following a decorated playing career with the Golden Bears.
The former outfielder from Philadelphia put together a spectacular senior season in 2019, setting new career-highs in all major offensive categories while hitting .416 (72-for-173). Jennings was named All-Atlantic Region First Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). She was also a D2CCA All-America honorable mention and All-PSAC East pick.
Jennings finished with 179 hits, 109 runs scored, 37 doubles and 92 runs batted in over her four seasons in Maroon and Gold. A .340 career hitter, she also produced a .984 fielding percentage with 233 putouts and 18 assists.
Jennings' 2019 season was one for the record book. She set a KU single-season record with eight sacrifice flies, while ranking eighth in hits (72) and runs scored (50), and 10th in RBIs (51).
Academically, Jennings received multiple PSAC and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors, D2ADA Academic Achievement awards and was a regular on Dean's List. She graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown in May, 2019, with a Bachelor of Science in computer science, while also receiving the Kutztown University Honors Program Award and Computer Science/Technology Award.
Jennings, who also served on KU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), is pursuing her Master of Science in information technology at KU as part of the department's combined B.S./M.S. program.
