Liz Parkins completed her fourth season as an assistant softball coach at Kutztown University in 2023, where she also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor.
"As a former PSAC student-athlete, I love the conference and the competitiveness of it," said Parkins, who was hired Oct. 28, 2019. "I'm really excited to be back in the PSAC and at Kutztown. KU was my favorite team to play against, so to be able to join Judy Lawes' coaching staff and to be welcome here is a really good feeling. I'm looking forward to learning and working under her and keeping that competitive spirit here at Kutztown."
In addition to coaching with the Golden Bears, Parkins will oversee Kutztown's SAAC, a committee consisting of student-athletes brought together to deliver an understanding of the student-athlete experience at the university. The SAAC also offers a voice for student-athletes on rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on campus.
Parkins played four years of collegiate softball Shippensburg University, where she graduated with a Bachlelor's of Business Administration in 2015. She went on to earn her Master's of Business Administration from Shippensburg in 2016.
While a student at Shippensburg, Parkins was a member of its SAAC all four years, including one term as president. She was chair of the Make-A-Wish Committee and co-chair of the Development Committee.
Parkins was asked to wear many different hats for the Raider softball team, playing infield, outfield and pitching. She hit .241 in 274 at-bats, including a career-high .338 as a senior in 2015. She also had a career ERA of 2.57 inside the circle.
"We really like Liz's experience and familiarity with the PSAC," said Lawes. "I knew she was a very good athlete and wasn't just one-dimensional. She can really do so much for us and help out in so many different areas with all of her experiences."
Prior to arriving at Kutztown, Parkins was the head softball coach at Souderton High School from 2016-18.
