Laura Kline enters her third year as assistant track and field coach in 2012-13. Kline’s responsibilities will be working with sprints, jumps and hurdles.
A Reading native, Laura Kline returns to her alma mater after a sterling career filled with plenty of accolades. Kline, who holds the school record in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.74), was named MVP of the women’s indoor and outdoor track & field team as a senior. Kline was the PSAC Champion in the 400 and was part of the second-place 4x400 relay, helping the Golden Bears to their third-straight PSAC indoor team title. Outdoors, Kline placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:02.23) and anchored the runner-up 4x400 relay.
During her senior year, Kline was an NCAA qualifier in the outdoor 400m hurdles, placing 15th at nationals. She placed second at the PSAC Championships in the event and also ran the second leg of the third-place 4x100 relay team and anchored the second place 4x400 relay squad. Kline was the PSAC Champion in the 400 during the 2005 indoor season along with her All-PSAC top three finish in the 4x400 relay. During the outdoor season, Kline was an All-PSAC finisher in the 400 hurdles, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.
Kline earned first-team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors in both track & field and as a member of KU’s field hockey team. Kline was a two-time Academic All-America selection, once each as a member of the field hockey and track & field teams. She was third-team At-Large Academic All-America, and second-team Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-America. She was a six-time dean’s list, five-time PSAC Top 10, three-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad and two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete recipient. Following her junior year, she was named the PSAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as the Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
A 2006 Kutztown graduate, Kline earned a bachelor’s of science degree in special education. She finished with a 4.0 grade point average and earned Summa Cum Laude honors. Kline minored in psychology.
