Shari Bucklin-Webber concluded her sixth season as the Kutztown University head men's and women's tennis coach in 2020-21.
Bucklin-Webber inherited young rosters when she was hired at KU on June 15, 2015, following eight years as the head coach at Millersville University. She posted a record of 19-58 with the men's team and an 18-61 mark with the women within a perennially tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
The Golden Bear men enjoyed a seven-win improvement and their best season under Bucklin-Webber in 2017-18, going 10-4 and qualifying for the PSAC Championship tournament. A strong set of upperclassmen led the way as KU reached the conference semifinals and returned to the NCAA Regional Poll for the first time in three years. The women's team narrowly missed out on a conference tournament berth in 2020-21, going 4-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Bucklin-Webber has mentored nine All-PSAC selections on the men's side and four All-PSAC East honorees on the women's during her six seasons.
In eight seasons as head coach of the Millersville men and women, Bucklin-Webber was a three-time PSAC Coach of the Year and the 2009 ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year while leading the Marauder men to five straight PSAC tournament appearances and two trips to the NCAA Atlantic Regional. She became the first woman to win PSAC Coach of the Year on the men's side in 2010-11.
Bucklin-Webber was honored as the 2014 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Central Pennsylvania District College Coach of the Year in February, 2015. She compiled a 90-170 combined record at Millersville.
Bucklin-Webber was selected as the PSAC Women's Coach of the Year in 2011-12, one season after winning the award on the men's side, and earned Women's Coach of the Year for a second consecutive season in 2012-13. Combined, she guided Millersville to seven PSAC Tournament appearances. Bucklin-Webber coached a PSAC Rookie of the Year, Doubles Champion Drew Slocum and 15 All-PSAC players.
Millersville's women's program had a resurgence under Bucklin-Webber. In the 2010-11 season, she guided the first All-PSAC East Marauder women's player since 2007. Bucklin-Webber's 2011-12 club reached the postseason for the first time in five years, qualifying for the PSAC Tournament, and made a return trip to the PSAC Tournament the following year. She also helped the Marauders make the NCAA Tournament in 2007 as an assistant coach under DeWitt Boyd.
Bucklin-Webber played tennis at Marshall University from 1982-86, where she was a team captain and graduated in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Shortly after graduating, she began her coaching career in the fall of 1986, leading the women's team at her alma mater for multiple seasons in its pre-varsity days. She was the assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame in 1988-89 and piloted the women's program at NCAA Division III Albright College from 1995-98.
Bucklin-Webber continues to play in USTA national tournaments, where she has won five national doubles titles. She also qualified for the Women's Tennis Association's Mecca Cup in 2002. In 2017, Bucklin-Webber won her fifth national doubles title by claiming the USTA National Grass Court Doubles Championship in the Women's 45 bracket.
Bucklin-Webber was inducted to the Berks County Tennis Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Middle States Tennis Hall of Fame in 2019.
