Rick Hicks completed his 11th season as an assistant coach with the Kutztown University men's basketball team in 2017-18.
 
Prior to Kutztown, Hicks was the head coach of the Coatesville Area High School boys' basketball team. He was on the staff that won the 2001 PIAA State Championship.
 
Hicks was a star player at Coatesville High School in the late 1980s before becoming the all-time leader in assists at West Chester University, and arguably the best point guard in Chester County history.
 
Hicks was inducted into the West Chester University Hall of Fame in 2003.
 
As a point guard at WCU from 1987-91, Hicks was a three-time All-PSAC player. He holds the school record for career assists with 455 and is the school's all-time leader in assists per game average, 4.5 per game. Also, Hicks is ranked 11th in all-time scoring with 1,362 points, third with 190 steals and seventh with 351 free throws.
 
Hicks earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Chester University.
