Corey Woods completed his fifth season on the KU coaching staff in 2016.
Woods coached the offensive line for three years after working with the tight ends for his first two seasons. He is coming off school-record offensive seasons in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, KU set the school-record for total offense at 488.8 per game and posted its first 400-yard rushing performance in school history. KU ranked fifth in the PSAC in rushing at 202.0 per game, its highest since 1998. One year later in 2016, KU broke that record with 459 yards at East Stroudsburg.

Woods' top lineman was two-time AP Little and AFCA All-American, and three-time All-PSAC East First Team left tackle, Jordan Morgan. Morgan was named the 2016 PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Year - the first offensive lineman in conference history to win the award - and was awarded the Gene Upshaw Award for the top lineman in Division II.

Woods played collegiately at Division I FBS Akron and was a four-year starter for the Zips at both left and right tackle. An All-Mid-American Conference performer in 2009, his 48 career starts tie as the most in school history and also tie as the second most games played.
After earning his bachelor's degree in business organization and communications at UA, Woods signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots before entering coaching.
