Brad Mangle completed his third season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kutztown University in 2016.

With Mangle at the helm, 16 Golden Bears have earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors on offense.

Mangle's offenses have made history in his first three years with the program. In 2014, KU scored a school-record 74 points in a record 74-point margin of victory over Cheyney (74-0). In his very first game on Sept. 6, 2014, at Slippery Rock, quarterback Chad Barton threw a school-record 64 passes and went on to rank second in the PSAC in 2014 in completions per game.

The following year in 2015, KU set the school-record for total offense at 488.8 per game, second in the PSAC and ninth in NCAA Division II. In just two years as a starter, Barton, an All-PSAC quarterback, went on to finish third in school history in career touchdown passes, fourth in completions and fifth in passing yards and attempts.

On the ground, KU posted three 100-yard rushers on Oct. 4, 2014, at Millersville for the first time in school history. In 2015, KU posted its first-ever 400-yard rushing game under Mangle. KU ranked fifth in the PSAC in rushing in 2015 at 202.0 per game, its highest since 1998. The running game expanded in 2016, setting a new single-game record with 459 yards at East Stroudsburg and 2,492 yards - the second-most in a season in school history.

Each of his three seasons rank in the top-seven in KU history in total offense per game, highlighted by a school-record 488.8 per game in 2015.

A long-time assistant with Millersville University and a 2006 inductee in the Cumberland Valley Hall of Fame, Mangle spent 30 years on the Marauders coaching staff. He served as associate head coach in 1999 and 2000. During his tenure, Mangle's primary duties dealt with the development of Millersville’s quarterbacks. He served as the offensive coordinator for 20 years.

During his time as offensive coordinator at Millersville, 10 offensive players achieved All-America status. He has also coached two PSAC East Rookies of the Year and a PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year.

Under his tutelage, standout Chris Fagan (1989-92) became Millersville's all-time passing leader – a mark he held for seven years until Mangle coached Drew Folmar (Kutztown's previous head coach) to some of the most prolific passing numbers in PSAC history.

Mangle also helped three-year starter Greg Moylan (1994-96) develop into one of the nation's top Division II quarterbacks in the mid-1990s. Another prominent signal caller, Bret Stover, led the Marauders to a program-record 10 wins and an NCAA Division II quarterfinal berth in 1988. At the end of the 20th century, Folmar, a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, eclipsed his predecessors’ career records for passing yards (9,903) and total offense (10,105 yards). Folmar blossomed under Mangle’s guidance, posting a 30-12 record with a berth in the 1999 NCAA quarterfinals.

A native of Mechanicsburg, Mangle was an All-PSAC defensive back and three-year varsity letterwinner at Millersville. He was also a member of several PSAC East title squads. In 1981, he received a bachelor's degree in elementary education before returning to his alma mater to earn a master's degree in counselor education.

Mangle recently retired after more than 30 years as an administrator in the Lancaster School District.
