Alex Buchert is a newcomer to Jim Clements' coaching staff at Kutztown University for the 2021 season.
Buchert joined the Golden Bears in January, 2020, as an assistant offensive line coach working with Pat Taylor, but the team's 2020 season ended up being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A two-year starting guard for fellow PSAC East member Bloomsburg University in 2011 and 2012, Buchert helped the 2012 Huskies rank fifth in NCAA Division II rushing offense at 315.8 yards per game. Bloomsburg also set a PSAC single-season rushing record with 3,789 yards that still stands.
Buchert was part of an offensive line that guided Franklyn Quiteh, the 2012 Division II leading rusher at 176.8 yards per game and also produced two 1,000-yard backs in consecutive seasons (2011-12), becoming the first team in the PSAC to do so. The unit also allowed just two sacks in BU’s final seven games and led the PSAC and ranked seventh in Division II at 0.67 sacks allowed per game.
Buchert is a Berks County native from nearby Robesonia and played his scholastic football at Conrad Weiser. He is a 2013 Bloomsburg alum with a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice.
