2012 (Game-by-Game):

2011 (Game-by-Game):   Mertz returned from his injury-ridden 2010 season as one of KU’s top starters.  He had a team-high five wins in his 11 games played and had one save.  Mertz struck out a team-high 47 batters in 42 innings on the mound.  He ended the year with a 5-4 record with a 5.79 ERA.  He threw a complete game against East Stroudsburg on Mar. 19 as he went seven innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters.   

2010 (Game-by-Game): Mertz started in one game and made three starts in his injury shortened junior season. He struck out eight in 8.1 innings of work. Struck out a season high four hitters against Bloomsburg on February 21. 
Honors: Spring 2010 Dean's List, ADA Academic Team

2008 (Game-by-Game): Mertz was the Golden Bears top option out of the bullpen, appearing in team-high 18 games and posting a team-low 1.80 ERA. He was 1-0 with two saves over 20 innings of work. He had 16 strikeouts and allowed just six walks. Opposing hitters batted .200 against the right-hander.
Honors: 2007-08 PSAC Scholar Athlete and Fall 2007 Dean's List.
