2016-17: Balboni won a career-high 18 matches with an 18-6 record in his redshirt-sophomore season. He was second on the team with seven wins by tech. fall, and held a 15-2 record in dual meets. He held a season-high 12-match winning streak during the season...Finished with a 2-2 record at the Super Region I Championships (2/25)...Posted a 14-11 decision against Mercyhurst (2/3)...Extended his winning-streak to 11 with a 7-1 decision against Ashland and a 9-4 decision against Lake Erie (1/28)...Extended his winning streak to nine by going 4-0 at the KU Duals, including two tech. falls and a pin in 2:18 (1/21)...Won all three of his matches at the Virginia Duals, including a 19-4 tech. fall and 18-8 major decision (1/14)...22-3 win by tech. fall in 2:31 over Millersville (1/10)...Ranked fourth at 174 in SR1 rankings (1/4)...Pinned LIU Post's Jesse Weiner in 5:49, which ended up being the tiebreaking criteria in KU's dual meet victory (12/18)...Recorded a 21-8 major decision at the PSAC Championships (12/10)...Posted a 14-8 decision in a win over Seton Hill (12/2)...Ranked fourth in SR1 at 174 pounds in preseason poll.

2015-16: The redshirt-freshman had an impressive debut as he recorded tech. falls in his first two matches of the season over LIU Post and Seton Hill. In total, Balboni had a team-high four technical falls and two major decisions. Balboni finished fifth at the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships. He recorded a 13-8 record during the season and was one of seven KU wrestlers with double-digit wins...Finished fifth at the NCAA Super Region I Championships and was one win away from going to nationals. He competed in seven matches over two days with a 4-3 record. He won the fifth-place match but dropped the true fourth-place match (2/27)...Recorded a technical fall in a win over ESU (2/16)...Tallied a 20-7 major decision against Millersville (2/10)...Picked up three victories at the Super Region 2 Duals (1/30)...Recorded a 23-11 win by major decision over Brayden Kuntz of Minnesota State-Moorhead (1/9)...Ranked sixth in Super Region I at 174 for the first time of career (1/2)...Second straight tech. fall of season with a 23-7 win over Seton Hill's Lou Maser (12/19)...Won his first career match at KU with an eye-opening, 28-8 tech. fall in a dual meet vs. LIU Post (12/16).
