Biography

2013-14: Named the Coaches Award recipient at the annual All-Sports Banquet (4/29)...Ortiz compiled an 18-12 overall record at 184 pounds for the Golden Bears during his senior season. He recorded two pins, one tech fall, and one win by major decision during the year...Recorded a win in the Super Region 1 Championships at 184 pounds (3/2)...Earned a 3-2 victory by decision at 184 in a win over Shippensburg (2/17)...Recorded a 3-0 victory by decision at 184 in a win over Alderson Broaddus (2/8)...Had a 7-0 victory by decision at 184 in a win over Seton Hill (2/8)...Recorded a 6-1 decision at 184 against Millersville (1/31)...Had a 5-2 decision at 184 against Mercyhurst (1/24)...Recorded three victories and placed 5th overall at 184 pounds at the PSAC Championships (12/7)...Had a 2-1 victory at 184 against Johns Hopkins (11/3)...Recorded a win by fall at 184 against Alderson-Broaddus (11/3)...Ranked No. 4 overall at 184 pounds in the NWCA Division II Super Region 1 preseason rankings (10/23).

2012-13: Finished the season with an overall record of 8-14, including one win by fall, two wins by major decision and one win by tech fall.

2011-12: Ortiz compiled an 18-15 overall record, including two pins and four major decisions. He earned second place at the NCAA Super Regionals and was an NCAA national qualifier.

2010-11: Ortiz won 10 matches in his sophomore season and was one of seven Golden Bears with 10 or more victories. He had two falls on the season with his fastest coming in 30 seconds. KU won double digit matches for the fifth consecutive season.
