KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown field hockey delivered a complete team effort at Andre Reed Stadium on Saturday, cruising to a 10-0 victory over non-conference opponent Saint Michael's. The Golden Bears' win featured seven different goal scorers, while every available player off the bench contributed to the team's dominant performance.
Sophomore
Julia Traynor (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) opened the scoring 2:34 into the contest, converting her own rebound. She struck again at the 5:31 mark, finding the right side of the cage off an assist from freshman
Anna Harris (Reston, Va./South Lakes). Kutztown (2-0 overall) added two more goals off penalty corners, with junior
Ellie Myers (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored at 13:11 off an assist from graduate student
Olivia Kirkpatrick (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra), before
Gwyn DeFazio (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) finished a feed from senior
Jessica Traynor (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) at the 15:00 mark to give the Golden Bears a 4-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Maroon and Gold wasted no time in the second quarter, earning a penalty corner within the first 25 seconds. Junior
Marlee Fetrow (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) capitalized at 15:25, finding the cage off an assist from senior
Rachel Galasso (Sweet Valley, Pa./Lake Lehman). Traynor completed her hat trick at 20:20, deflecting a pass from freshman
Landrey DeLillo (Macungie, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) off a corner. Sophomore
Meryl Mesenbrink (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) followed at 21:30 with her first goal of the season, assisted by sophomore
Bree Zoccolo (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) on a penalty corner.
Taylor Vaccaro (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) capped the first-half scoring at 22:07, finding the left side of the cage off a corner shot.
Kutztown shifted its approach in the second half, slowing the pace of play and focusing on controlled possession, efficient passing and more calculated offensive opportunities. Myers found the back of the cage at 34:16, deflecting a pass from Traynor. Senior
Jordan Stroup (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) capped the scoring at 36:16, converting an assist from sophomore

The Golden Bears dominated every aspect of the game, outshooting Saint Michael's 25-0, putting 17 shots on goal and earning 13 penalty corners. This was the most goals KU has scored since their 10–0 victory over St. Michaels in 2022 and the 10 goals are tied for fifth-most in a single game in program history.
The Maroon and Gold continue action at Andre Reed Stadium tomorrow, Sept. 6, as they take on Southern Connecticut State at 1:30 p.m.
