Box Score 2 ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Kutztown volleyball hit the road to the south this weekend for a two-day tournament at Elizabeth City State of the CIAA. KU was victorious in both matches day one, Friday, defeating both the host Vikings and then Glenville State of the Mountain East Conference.

The Golden Bears (6-1 overall) matched their best start to a season since 2011. They beat ECSU in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-15. The match against the Pioneers was a little bit more of a challenge as the teams went to the decisive fifth set and the Maroon and Gold were able to finish it off after falling in two of the first three sets. They won by scores of 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Against Glenville State,
Paige Skinner (Placerville, Calif./Ponderosa) led the attack with 15 kills and added five digs.
Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) finished with 12 kills, nine assists and six digs.
Ellie White (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) tallied 11 kills and two digs and
Grace White (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) recorded nine kills.
Emma Baldridge (Damascus, Md./Damascus) contributed 22 assists and eight digs and
Saige Thibodeaux (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker) added 18 digs to lead the defense.

Kutztown concludes its time in Elizabeth City, N.C., Saturday with two more matches, beginning bright and early at 8 a.m., against Chowan, then a 4:30 p.m., match against Belmont Abbey.
