Graham, Golden Bears victorious again at Dickinson Fall Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) won her second consecutive tournament with a 2-over par 74 and the Kutztown University women's golf team continued its perfect fall with a third team title in as many outings at Sunday's Dickinson Fall Invitational.

Playing in her backyard at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course, Graham, a Carlisle native, clicked off four birdies and three pars on her way to shooting 1-under 35 after the opening nine holes. The birdies came at holes 1 (par 4), 3 (par 4), 7 (par 4) and 9 (par 5).

Graham recorded six pars on the back nine to shoot 39 coming in for her best round of the fall. She held off Moravian's Heidi Wegscheider by one shot (75) to take medalist honors. It was a bit of redemption for the Golden Bear senior after she tied Wegscheider for the low round at the Albright Northampton Cup back on Sept. 1, before ultimately settling for runner-up after a pair of playoff holes.

Freshman Abby McCaffrey (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) completed her second round in the 70s in three tournaments with a career-best 77 (+5) to place third among 39 players. McCaffrey supplied a team-high 11 pars along with a birdie on the 293-yard, par 4 13th.

After claiming the top three spots on the leaderboard at last Tuesday's Elizabethtown Fall Invitational, KU went 1-3-4, Sunday, with sophomore Eva Moawad (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) picking up her second top five finish in a row. Moawad tied her career-best round with a 79 (+7) that featured 10 pars and a birdie on the 288-yard, par 4 fifth.

Livia Andov (Pekanbaru, Indonesia/) completed Kutztown's scoring contingent with an 83 (+11) to tie for seventh. The sophomore collected eight pars on the day. Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) had two pars on the back nine to finish with a 92 for the Maroon and Gold.

Kutztown enjoyed its best team score of the fall with a 25-over par 313 to outpace runner-up Gettysburg by 29 shots (342, +54). In their three tournament victories, the Golden Bears have defeated the second place team by 29, 44 and 46 shots.

Moravian (355, +67), Lock Haven (357, +69) and Dickinson's Red squad (364, +76) rounded out the top five in the team standings.

The Golden Bears return to Berks County to compete in the Millersville Fall Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, at Kutztown's Berkleigh Golf Club, home of the PSAC Championship next April.
